Dollar Rent a Car

Staff was friendly and spoke good English.. Car was cleaned and no check engine lights on.

When I picked up my Kia Optima from Dollar at the Tampa International Airport the car smelt like smoke. When I noticed it was too late to go back and complain. So when I dropped off the car today at the airport the lady name Pamlette, that was checking in my car, said the car smelt like smoke and I would get charged for smoking in the car. I don't even smoke and never smoke in the car while I was renting. Beware of picking up a car that smells like smoke because they will try to charge you when you drop it off. MAKE SURE YOU TELL THE FRONT RIGHT WHEN YOU GET TO YOUR CAR OR THE WILL CHARGE YOU LATE ON. I travel a lot for work and this is the last time I will rent from Dollar. STAY AWAY

Easy to find right outside the terminal. The Dollar staff were very helpful and efficient. I was able to check the car back in very quickly as well and had my receipt in hand just minutes after dropping off the car.

By far the worst customer experience I have had in a long time. The rep that was working added all additional items without asking like toll coverage, 180$ insurance additions and we didn't notice until after she ran our card. When we told her we didn't ask for those things she replied with a "180$ to protect your car and you not wanting to add it is ridiculous". On top of that they add tons of fees to your rental like $80 to make it so someone else "might" drive with you. Will never rent with them again, if you choose to take your estimated total and double it.

Experience with the rental was great. I would suggest having better signage for directing people to the kiosk to call an agent. I would prefer to speak with an actual person(at the desk) as an agent verses at the kiosk over the phone, because I was informed incorrectly about the toll pass needed based on the areas I would be visiting for the week, due to the person over the phone not being familiar with the area. Overall experience with Dollar was Great as usual, no one can be perfect!!!
