If there's one place which I loved in Stockholm.. It's this museum. I am a geek and this was just right my alley. The story they told there...it moved me. They got a recreation of the ships suite that they used to salvage the boat, they got a whole research about how to preserve wet wood, a lot of research of how to recreate sailor faces and best of all..a whole room talking without taking pride about how woman were equal to man in the old days.

The wife is usually the museum type of lady, while I rather Starbucks and chill watching the people on the street...but this time ...she was ready and I was still reading history posters all around the ship.

As a must...get a wide lens for you camera...that ship is huge and no regular 22mm is gonna fit the beast.

This is a really cool site that my cousin took me took. Tickets were around $13 each and you get to see this salvaged centuries old ship from top to bottom! I know some people were able to go on the boat, but I'm not sure how much extra you have to pay or if it's a special invite sort of deal. I was happy going floor to floor learning about the ship and taking different pictures of it. It is a bit cooler inside since they're trying to preserve the ship as much as possible, but I already was dressed warm since it was cooler outside too. Definitely worth a visit if you have time in Stockholm!

This museum is amazing. There are a couple of negative reviews however I beg that you ignore them and take a look for yourself. You won't see anything like this anywhere else on the planet, because this is the only ship of its kind left in the world.

You need to be aware that the museum is quite dark and slightly chilly, this is because of how fragile the ship is and the environment needs to be controlled.

The museum does a fantastic job of explaining what this ship was built for, who built it, where it was built and why it sunk. You just need to walk around the museum or take the tour to find this information.

There is a reason why this is Stockholm's number one attraction, and you won't be disappointed. To be able to get so close to history and feel the scale of this ship is simply amazing.

The ship is an incredible sight. The museum does a great job explaining how the crew would have lived, life of various workers involved in its construction, etc, as well as the preservation process after it was rescued in the 60s. Would visit again if I'm ever in Stockholm

Also, American/other foreign students: I was able to use my US student id to get the student discount. It's only 20 kronor difference, but still nice!

A fantastic museum, built for an ever more fantastic ship. There's so much to see and do here for all ages. If you plan to visit with young children I really recommend seeing a little fictional movie about the pig Lindbom who ends up at the ship. From the movie theater your kids will find small clues and try various things, all while actually learning about the ship and seeing pretty much everything. Brilliant idea and something my entire family enjoyed. Sure, there are crazy many tourists visiting Vasa all year round but this is something you need to visit!
